The Disclosures – Thank My Piggy Bank

Those who work with credit unions may have heard of the Madison-based musical duo of Christopher Morris and Chad Helminak, better known as The Disclosures. In addition to their busy touring schedule, they have also been recording some new songs for a forthcoming album.

It’s not too often that my primary job of EverythingCU.com intersects with my side project of music engineering, editing, and remixing, but when I heard that Chris and Chad were working on new songs, I jumped at the chance to mix their new album for them. They have been thrilled with the results.

Their first single, Thank My Piggy Bank was just released on YouTube, iTunes, Amazon, and CD Baby yesterday, in honor of National Financial Literacy month. Here is their fun video:

And you can purchase/download it from iTunes here. For more details on the duo and the song, their blog post is here. Enjoy!

Beatles remix – Somehow Someway

The following dance routine titled “All You Need Is Love” – was an Elite Senior jazz/character routine performed at the 2012 StarPower Springfield, Massachusetts Regional competition. Choreography by Lesley Lambert. Audio design/remix by Morriss Partee, Squirrel Trench Audio. Story & audio concept inspired by Cirque Du Soleil/Beatles partnership Beatles’ Love

I love doing custom, creative remixes for dance such as this one, and am excited that quite a few dance studios will be using Squirrel Trench Audio remixes for the 2012-2012 dance season. And more are currently in the works! If you are looking for a unique dance remix, then shoot me an email and let me know your concept and routine length.

Wizard of Oz Remix is big hit

Just got a link to a video from Kim Houli, dance studio owner of Dance for Joy in Brielle, NJ. This is a video of the opening recital production number for which I did the music remix last fall. It was truly a pleasure to make this music, and an honor to provide the foundation for what Kim says was their biggest recital opening hit to date.

Enjoy the hard work of these fabulous dancers!

And now, you too can purchase and use this remix, thanks to a new service called Legitmix. Preview and purchase this mix here:

National Tap Dance Day – Rhythmic Circus rocking the house

Today, May 25, is National Tap Dance Day, and not much embodies all the wonderful qualities of tap quite like Rhythmic Circus. This group of Minneapolis-based musicians and tappers has a fun show, filled with dance, music, funk, beatboxing, and most of all, a lot of humor. Our whole family got to see the show a couple of weekends ago, and it was truly a delight.

To cap off the evening, all the performers came out and signed autographs. These are genuinely a really nice bunch of people who are performing their hearts out. Be sure to catch them in New York City starting in October of this year! (2012)

Congratulations to the Dance Mom of the Year

Dancemom.com‘s online competition for the Dance Mom of the Year has just wrapped up. Squirrel Trench Audio is proud to be a sponsor of the contest, and will be providing a free music edit to two winners from Week 2 of the contest, and two music edits to the grand prize winner.

You can view the entries from the three finalists to win the grand prize.

Congratulations to Savgirlsmom for winning the Dance Mom of the Year title! Also, congratulations to MelPadgett and BerriCre8v and all of the other “momtestants.” You are all winners in my book.

In addition to the two winners from Week 2 (PinnellMom and GumbysMom), and the grand prize winner (SavgirlsMom), Squirrel Trench Audio will also be giving two free music edits to the runners-up, both MelPadgett, and BerriCre8v.

Curfew by Snowmine

Crank this song up if you have a good sound system connected to your computer:

This song comes from the Weathervane/Shaking Through project; independent musicians and bands are tracked, and then the stems are raw tracks are uploaded for anyone to download and mix. This band is called Snowmine; fronted by lead singer and keyboardist Grayson Sanders. Produced by Brian McTear and Tracked/Engineered by Jonathan Low. You can find more about this song, band and project here: http://www.shakingthrough.com/snowmine

This sound file above is my original mix of this excellent song. I’ve had a bit of fun changing a few of the elements up a bit, but I’ve also tried to stay true to what I imagine the band’s vision for the track is, and let their musicianship shine through.

Busy and exciting week!

It’s been a busy and exciting week for Squirrel Trench Audio! Not only are we sponsoring this week’s contest in the Dance Mom of the Year competition on DanceMom.com, we also have 23 routines with Squirrel Trench music debuting in competition this weekend! Out of a total of 243 routines at the United States Tournament of Dance Western Massachusetts championship, Squirrel Trench Audio has provided the music for 31 of the routines, which is nearly 13%!

Competition CDs are ready to goAnd as if all of that weren’t enough, we continue to edit the music for numerous solo routines for On Stage Dance Studio in Cedar City, Utah. In fact, we’ve gotten another 3 done in just the past 24 hours alone.

Here’s the latest feedback from one of the dance teachers at On Stage Dance:

“I can’t believe how fast you are, thanks a million!!! Too bad that music alone can’t win a ‘high point,’ because we would have a guaranteed trophy! THANKS!”
