I love getting feedback from dance studio owners and choreographers. Especially when they find that my catalog of cleaned and edited songs and mixes transforms the music selection task from a headache and chore into an easy and exciting process of finding music that is perfect for their choreographic vision. Here’s the latest from Ashley Kohl, Creative Director for the Ohana School of Performing Arts in South Hadley, Massachusetts:
“You totally ROCK!!!! Wow, thanks so much Morriss! I’ll be in touch with more … this resource is a serious lifesaver. I have shared it with all of my instructors. I am so much more excited to pick music than I have ever been. It’s usually so daunting and stressful. Game changer!

I am beaming proud of Shaunessey for her best performance to date… which garned her being awarded the Number One tap routine in her age category, as well as the First Place soloist in the 9-11 age category at this weekend’s StarPower regional competition in Springfield MA. I could not be more proud! Choreography by Lesley Weber. Music by Rhythmic Circus; much love to them for sending me the Minus-Taps mix from their amazingly tapalicious FDFMN song!
Yesterday I had the treat of seeing four performances by Rhythm Dance Company in the DanceXplosion regional in Worcester, Massachusetts, that used Squirrel Trench Audio original remixes and edits. It was a great pleasure meeting studio owner and choreographer Nicole Newman Kelley in person after working with her via email for the past several months to get her routines’ music produced.
Today’s spectacular RDC group numbers included:
Valerie ’68 by Amy Winehouse (small group jazz)
Get On the Floor, an original hip hop remix featuring On The Dancefloor with will.i.am (large group hip hop)
Glamourous, a rockin medley which starts with a cover of Glamourous Life (large group jazz)
Rhythm Nation, an original remix of the Janet Jackson classic (Production Line)
Congratulations to RDC on spectacular performances for these songs and all of the others performed this weekend.
More congratulations are in order for Nicole Newman Kelley and the dancers of Rhythm Dance Company for high gold and platinum-winning performances at the StarQuest regional in Providence, Rhode Island three weeks ago. RDC uses Squirrel Trench Audio original remixes and edits for their group numbers (and a few solos) this season, and highlights from the StarQuest competition include:

Congratulations to four New England Dance Center soloists, a duo, and a trio, using Squirrel Trench Audio remixed songs and choreo by Miss Lesley, for winning 1st overall in your category at Star Systems‘ Worcester Regional yesterday morning… and the duo and trio scored the PLATINUM prize as well.
Congratulations to Brianna Roland for earning Elite Gold in both of her solo performances at the Starbound regional competition in Springfield, Mass. yesterday. These fierce performances earned her both First and Second place in the overalls for her age category. Her jazz routine Lady Jackson features an original Squirrel Trench remix of Janet Jackson’s Nasty, and her lyrical routine features a Squirrel Trench edited song by OneRepublic.
We are pleased to report that dancer extraordinaire Brianna Roland has won yet another title award, this time at StarQuest competition in West Springfield, Massachusetts, winning the title of Miss Starquest, with her lyrical performance called “Looking Back”. The music is an edit of a Sigur Rós track called Samskeyti.
For a one-minute excerpt of this fine performance, you can view it on YouTube. Unfortunately the audio quality in the linked video is very poor. However, the music sounded fantastic in the auditorium.
Winning the title is nothing new for Miss Brianna, as she has already done so several times this year, and has in previous years as well.
Another routine performed at Starquest using an original Squirrel Trench Remix soundtrack won Classic Top Score Duo/Trio, but I’m not going to provide a link because the audio quality is so poor.
