Beatles remix – Somehow Someway

The following dance routine titled “All You Need Is Love” – was an Elite Senior jazz/character routine performed at the 2012 StarPower Springfield, Massachusetts Regional competition. Choreography by Lesley Lambert. Audio design/remix by Morriss Partee, Squirrel Trench Audio. Story & audio concept inspired by Cirque Du Soleil/Beatles partnership Beatles’ Love

I love doing custom, creative remixes for dance such as this one, and am excited that quite a few dance studios will be using Squirrel Trench Audio remixes for the 2012-2012 dance season. And more are currently in the works! If you are looking for a unique dance remix, then shoot me an email and let me know your concept and routine length.

Another title win with a Squirrel Trench Audio track

We are pleased to report that dancer extraordinaire Brianna Roland has won yet another title award, this time at StarQuest competition in West Springfield, Massachusetts, winning the title of Miss Starquest, with her lyrical performance called “Looking Back”. The music is an edit of a Sigur Rós track called Samskeyti.

For a one-minute excerpt of this fine performance, you can view it on YouTube. Unfortunately the audio quality in the linked video is very poor. However, the music sounded fantastic in the auditorium.

Winning the title is nothing new for Miss Brianna, as she has already done so several times this year, and has in previous years as well.

Another routine performed at Starquest using an original Squirrel Trench Remix soundtrack won Classic Top Score Duo/Trio, but I’m not going to provide a link because the audio quality is so poor.

Busy and exciting week!

It’s been a busy and exciting week for Squirrel Trench Audio! Not only are we sponsoring this week’s contest in the Dance Mom of the Year competition on DanceMom.com, we also have 23 routines with Squirrel Trench music debuting in competition this weekend! Out of a total of 243 routines at the United States Tournament of Dance Western Massachusetts championship, Squirrel Trench Audio has provided the music for 31 of the routines, which is nearly 13%!

Competition CDs are ready to goAnd as if all of that weren’t enough, we continue to edit the music for numerous solo routines for On Stage Dance Studio in Cedar City, Utah. In fact, we’ve gotten another 3 done in just the past 24 hours alone.

Here’s the latest feedback from one of the dance teachers at On Stage Dance:

“I can’t believe how fast you are, thanks a million!!! Too bad that music alone can’t win a ‘high point,’ because we would have a guaranteed trophy! THANKS!”

Headliner Regional High Score, Teen Division

Congratulations to Brianna Roland for winning Headliner’s Springfield Regional competition, Teen Division!

This routine features Prince’s When Doves Cry, which had a couple of audio glitches until I fixed it for her a few weeks ago.

Headliners has uploaded this routine to YouTube for your viewing pleasure:

If you have less-than-perfect music that needs fixing before Nationals, let me know!

Bringing home the Platinum

Squirrel Trench Audio is proud to have played a small role in helping a senior dancer bring home a Platinum and first overall performance at the Onstage New York regional competition in Springfield, Massachusetts last weekend. The number, When Doves Cry, is an original jazz choreography and performance by Brianna Roland. She did her own music editing of the Prince song as well. The dance is truly spectacular. Prior to this weekend, the music had a small hiccup at the ending. I fixed the hiccup, making the ending as flawless as the dance. Brianna was ecstatic to finally have perfect music to go with her beautiful performance. And the results couldn’t have been better: A Platinum award and first place overall. Congrats to Miss Senior Titlist, Brianna Roland!

If you also have a hiccup, glitch, scar, or other awkwardness in your music, it’s not too late to get it fixed in time for Nationals.

And now, Brianna’s routine has been uploaded by Headliners!

Pixie Hollow unveiled

After months of rehearsal, Pixie Hollow, a dance routine choreographed by Lesley Lambert featuring a music creation of mine has finally premiered at competition. Pixie Hollow started with a concept by Lesley for a character dance centered around the theme of Tinkerbell from Peter Pan. She then searched out several songs on the theme, including Fly To Your Heart and Magic by Selena Gomez and Never Never Land by Jane Monheit, which I mixed along with other music and audio elements to form the soundtrack for the piece.

Here’s the music for Pixie Hollow, along with a couple of glimpses of the costumes backstage:

Pixie Hollow has been performed at three regional competitions to date: Headliners in Lowell MA, Star Systems in Worcester MA, and Onstage New York in Springfield MA. Each performance was great, and the dancers continue to improve and refine their techniques. At its premier at Headliners, it won a High Silver and was invited to go on to the US Dance Team Finals at their Nationals; at Star Systems it won a High Gold; and at Onstage New York it won a Gold and 6th place overall in its age group. Not bad for a group of 8-11 year olds!
