Michael Jackson for tap dance routines

It’s been quite busy for music remixes and edits over the past several weeks. One of the latest requests is a Michael Jackson song re-edited/remixed for a 7-year-old tapper, with a duration of 2:20 for the routine. Michael Jackson was an amazing musician, singer, dancer and entertainer. Pretty much every one of his songs has a catchy beat and great structure. He is one of my favorite artists for music editing and remixing.

After completing and uploading the latest MJ remix for the tap routine, the dance parent had this to say upon first listen:

“Oh my goodness, this is PERFECT!! You are a genius! Thanks so much!”

It’s great to know that another tapper will have a spectacular remix to dance with. When you are ready for flawless music which is a cut above the rest for your next dance routine, just let me know.

Feet Don’t Fail Shaun Now

Shaunessey Tap ChampionI am beaming proud of Shaunessey for her best performance to date… which garned her being awarded the Number One tap routine in her age category, as well as the First Place soloist in the 9-11 age category at this weekend’s StarPower regional competition in Springfield MA. I could not be more proud! Choreography by Lesley Weber. Music by Rhythmic Circus; much love to them for sending me the Minus-Taps mix from their amazingly tapalicious FDFMN song!

Creative remixes for dance

Britney Spears beautiful new lookBesides delivering structurally-sound remixes of single songs, perhaps my favorite music editing project is a creative custom remix. These come in many forms. I just finished a remix of four Britney Spears songs for a large competitive group at a studio in Georgia, and I’m about to begin on a “Dance Through The Ages” remix for a non-competitive studio in New Jersey. And if you are looking for a two-part cheer music edit, that is no problem as well. Other custom remixes I’ve finished include a Pixie Hollow theme, a Mary Poppins mash-up, a Wizard of Oz retelling, a train medley, an evocative drum journey, a Beatles remix inspired by the Cirque du Soleil masterpiece Love, and many more.

If you are looking for some fresh new ideas in music to give yourself a creative boost for your next choreographic masterpiece, then shoot me an email. Prices for these custom remixes depend on the complexity, but typically run between $74 and $149.

Time to choose songs for the 2012-13 dance season

Recitals are wrapping up, or are done, and now on to Nationals for many competitive dance studios. That means now is the perfect time to finalize your song selections for the coming 2012-2013 dance season! When you have selected your song, and you need it edited, cut, or remixed to competition length, then email me, and I’ll make it happen for you. I can also speed your song up, slow it down, or raise its volume without distortion.

Here are a few songs to get your musical creative juices flowing:

Jazz:

Tenderoni – Chromeo

What Is Hip? – Juju Orchestra

Who Do You Think You Are? – Spice Girls

Lyrical:

Against All Odds – Academical Village People (a cappella cover of Phil Collins)

Slow Me Down – Emmy Rossum (nearly a cappella)
Slow Me Down – The Illinois Rip Chords (purely a cappella cover)

Graduation (Friends Forever) – Vitamin C

She’s Got A Way – Dear Abbeys (a cappella cover of Billy Joel)

I Am – Nichole Nordeman

Tap:

Let’s Go Crazy – Dear Abbeys (a cappella cover of Prince)

This Love – Academical Village People (a cappella cover of Maroon 5)
This Love – UVA Academic Village People (a cappella cover of Maroon 5)

National Tap Dance Day – Rhythmic Circus rocking the house

Today, May 25, is National Tap Dance Day, and not much embodies all the wonderful qualities of tap quite like Rhythmic Circus. This group of Minneapolis-based musicians and tappers has a fun show, filled with dance, music, funk, beatboxing, and most of all, a lot of humor. Our whole family got to see the show a couple of weekends ago, and it was truly a delight.

To cap off the evening, all the performers came out and signed autographs. These are genuinely a really nice bunch of people who are performing their hearts out. Be sure to catch them in New York City starting in October of this year! (2012)
